Get ready to cheer on Holocaust survivor, Herbert Marx, as he throws the first pitch at the game!

Herbert Marx, a remarkable Holocaust survivor, will have the honor of throwing the first pitch at our Jewish Community Day with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Born in Karlsruhe, Germany, during Hitler's rise to power, Herbert witnessed the horrific events of World War II firsthand.

At just six years old, he and his family were forcibly taken to the Gurs concentration camp in France, marking the beginning of a harrowing journey that would eventually see him escape with the help of the French Resistance and find refuge in Switzerland.

Despite losing his entire family in the Holocaust, Herbert’s spirit remained unbroken. He rebuilt his life in the United States, serving with distinction in the US Army and later working for the Secret Service. An ardent soccer enthusiast, Herbert has also dedicated 30 years as an international soccer referee and remains a proud member of both the German Soccer Federation and the United States Soccer Federation.

Join us in celebrating this remarkable man at our Jewish Community Day.

Join us during the game in our secured Jewish Community area where we will have activities for all ages, giveaways, a photo booth area and much more!

This private area will be located behind section 145W at the stadium.

Chase Field is committed to providing an enjoyable experience to guests with disabilities.

FAQs

Will there be enhanced security at this event?

Ensuring a safe and secure environment is our priority at The Center for Jewish Philanthropy. We continuously implement and review safety protocols and security measures at CJP events, aiming to provide a comfortable and protected experience for all attendees. We are in the process of finalizing our security plan with the Arizona Diamondbacks, law enforcement, as well as a private security company to ensure proper coverage for the event.

Can I buy one of the Diamondbacks Hebrew hats?

Unfortunately, we won't be able to guarantee any extra hats as they are limited and first-come-first-served at the game. If you are a season ticket holder, please contact your service representative to inquire about having a hat reserved for you at the game.

There will not be kosher food sold inside the stadium. Non-flavored/non-carbonated water in sealed, plastic bottles, empty plastic water bottles, sealed single service juice boxes, formula, baby food and small food items are permitted to be brought into the stadium in an approved clear bag.
